Ink Review: Ultramarine, Sailor L. E. Spring 2011 Collection
For some reason, I’ve always loved to write my fiction in purple ink but finding good mid and light purples, which aren’t painfully bright can be tough. Sailor’s Winter 2010 collection gave me one of my all time favourite inks: Fuji Musume, a beautiful, pastel purple; This Spring Sailor has brought us Ultramarine, a mid-purple which sits perfectly between Waterman’s immaculate, dark-but-you-can-still-tell-it’s Purple and Fuji Musume. Definitely one for the regular rotation.
All the Sailor Limited Edition Jentle inks feel silky in my test pen (Lamy Joy with Medium nib), and show little, if any, feathering on the Clairefontaine, 80gsm, white vellum of the Rhodia Bloc pad I used for the tests.
Because my writing is not the best, the comparison inks listed are: Waterman Purple; Sailor Fuji Musume Winter 201o Limited Edition; Sailor Souten Winter 2010 Limited Edition; J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir.
